Welcome to the first part of our new series where we meet the people behind Upptec, the ones turning ideas into real impact. First up is Rebecka Fjellström, Sales & Support Intern, who moves seamlessly between helping customers and translating insights into strategy.

Get to know Rebecka Fjellström

With a unique blend of hands-on customer work and analytical deep dives, Rebecka Fjellström bridges the worlds of support and sales at Upptec. As a Sales & Support Intern, she helps claims adjusters navigate the platform while also digging into data and trends to support colleagues across teams.

“My role is an exciting combination of two worlds, one practical and one analytical. One part is about direct contact with our customers, mainly claims adjusters at insurance companies, where I assist in their daily work and help them navigate our systems. The other part involves collecting, analyzing, and compiling information, both from our users and from the market.”

Bringing an International Lens to Analytical Work

While working at Upptec, Rebecka is studying for her master’s in economics at Lund University. Alongside her studies, she has spent semesters abroad in Perth and Brussels and soon, Zürich. Her academic and international background brings a thoughtful approach to problem-solving, which shows up in how she handles both data and people.

“From my studies and international experiences, I bring an analytical, critical, and curious way of thinking, a drive to understand why things are the way they are, how they connect, and what drives change. That kind of understanding takes on a whole new weight when you’re part of a company that’s actually shaping the way we’ll work in the future, like Upptec does.”

Building Trust and Insights

Her daily contact with claim adjusters has given her a front-row seat to how Upptec’s systems are used in real life. These conversations offer more than support, they uncover valuable insights.

“Many of our users show a genuine desire to understand our solutions in depth, they don’t settle for quick answers but really want to understand how and why something works.”

A Partner to the Sales Team

Rebecka supports Upptec’s sales team by translating customer needs into tangible insight, even when those needs aren’t spelled out directly.

“For me, it’s about seeing patterns and understanding context. I support the sales team by quickly picking up on needs, both the stated ones and those between the lines and turning them into concrete input and relevant insights.”

Inside Meets Outside

A big part of what makes Rebecka’s role rewarding is the dual perspective she gets, working with both internal teams and external users.

“By switching between internal discussions and external customer contact, I gain a more complete understanding of our solutions and users’ needs. As someone who’s new to the industry, that’s been invaluable, it’s probably helped many things click into place faster and given me a more holistic perspective.”

And with that perspective comes realization about the industry itself.

“You might not think of creativity when you hear the word ‘insurance’, but as society changes, we constantly need new ways of thinking. You have to be curious, solution-oriented, and willing to challenge old ways of working.”

Structure, Curiosity and of course Ping Pong

At the office, Rebecka is known for her positivity and curiosity and not just about customers or market trends.

“I think my colleagues would describe me as curious, positive, and always ready to help. And as a ping pong pro (yes, we have a ping pong table at the office).”

For Rebecka, culture is more than just a buzzword,it’s something you feel right away.

“The culture at Upptec is warm, inclusive, and full of energy. Despite our different roles, we work closely together with openness, which means you learn a lot, not least about entrepreneurship.
